My Goals for 2019

New Year, New Me

I don’t really like to set New Year’s Resolutions because there’s the stereotype around them that you have to do it every day or else you fail. So instead I like to set yearly goals, stuff I want to accomplish over the year. So in no particular order, here’s what I accomplished this year to look back on.

  • I helped redesign my church’s website and branding!

  • I briefly worked as a photo editor and got to see some really awesome houses up in Minnesota.

  • I started my own successful side business as a dog walker and sitter through Rover. Which I love. I have the best clients- dogs and people!

  • I got a therapist! Gotta take care of the mental health!

  • I got a betta fish named Jasper. Who survived 2018.

  • I attended some awesome networking and learning events including AIGA Iowa’s Women Up! conference.

  • I successfully started learning bookbinding, upped my jewelry design, and even attended some craft shows where I sold stuff! People like my things!

  • I have been teaching myself more about business and marketing as I look into opening up my own craft business and continuing to improve my Rover work.

  • I sold some items I no longer wanted on Poshmark.

  • I read 30 books this year! And most of them were nonfiction.

  • I wrote 50 pages into my novel, A Star so Dark.

My 2019 goals

  • Attend some classes at the Des Moines Art Center

  • Look into getting some certifications for my design, marketing, writing, or dog work.

  • Attend small business workshops at the Iowa Women’s Small Business Resource Center.

  • Continue learning online to master my design skills and improve other areas

  • Keep my betta fish alive to 2020

  • Blog more

  • Create a logo, website, and marketing materials for my crafting side hobby and attend more craft and vendor shows

  • Advance my career!

  • Learn more about marketing, business, UX and UI design, web development, graphic design, and writing

  • Finish a novel

  • Finish editing Sword of Clouds!

  • Finish my Hoppity rabbit app

  • Redesign some past projects and make them better

  • Seek out more mentors and connect with more people

  • Attend more local events on the weekends and when I am available.

  • Raise my prices for my Rover business, hopefully won’t confuse any repeat clients, and will gain new clients.

  • Play with all the dogs

  • Volunteer more often

  • Switch this website to a new theme

  • Continue building my financial wealth

  • Get a new credit card and bank account

  • Continue paying off student loans

  • Fulfill my personal goals

  • Finally build a new computer and hopefully all of my old software will transfer intact

  • Track more of my reading goals in Goodreads

  • Eat healthier and meal prep more often

  • Go to the gym more often and get fit

  • Be the best I can be

So those are mine (for now! They might change and that’s okay). What are your goals for 2019 and how do you plan to accomplish them? What’s the biggest thing you accomplished in 2018?
