My Inspiration Board for 2019
This year was my first year making an inspiration board. I wanted to do something that would inspire me when I’m feeling down. I’m also considering making an inspiration journal.
I thought I would break it down more to discussion my goals for 2019.
So to start out with, I added on a quote about working hard and slaying hard, as well as some memorabilia from AIGA- the heart logo and my name tag from when I was Web Director for Iowa. I would like to attend more networking events this year even though it is hard to do with my job schedule. And I would like to advance my career and keep moving towards my career goals.
The quotes on the bottom are to remind me to don’t be afraid to reach for my goals and to do it thoughtfully with passion and integrity.
Then I added on some postcards about feminism since I would like to get more into activism and volunteering this year. I really wanted to attend the Women’s March this year but it was a bit hard for me to get there that day. And I would like to volunteer around town more.
The thank you card is there because it’s a handmade card made with flower petals. I would like to be more eco friendly this year. I started last year aquiring some eco friendly products, but this year I would like to continue that goal. This year especially I would like to get reusable snack baggies.
Its also there to remind me to be grateful for what I have. I have a lot of good in my life and I am grateful for the opportunities I have had so far.
The picture of the bookcase is because I would like to read more books this year. Last year I started on a trend of reading a book a week and I would like to get back into that. Especially more nonfiction and all of the fiction books I’ve been wanting to read but never got around to them. And I would like to get back into book reviewing.
I have a goal to finish the book I wrote a couple years ago. The first draft is finished but now I’m in the process of rewriting it. I think the middle was a bit dull in the original draft, so I’m adding in some new stakes and introducing some planned ones earlier.
Then I would also like to finish the first draft of a book I’ve been currently working on, A Star So Dark. As you can tell, I would like to write more this year. Except for sometimes working on ASSD in my freetime, I haven’t worked on much else.
Then there are items that represent textures or patterns I like. There is a bag with striped rose petals that are my favorite. And the geisha doll is from when I went to Japan. Her kimono looks a lot like the yukata I got, and I really love the pattern.
The color swatches are there since purple is my favorite color and the green because the swatch is named grandview. Also there is a tiger stamp on it to donate to animal causes and it reminds me to be a more thoughtful consumer.
Then I have some postcards from when I went to Japan because they are pretty but to remind me that I would like to travel more often. And especially go back to Japan some day. There is also another thing next to it from the Narita Shrine and I think it might be an ofuda. Not sure.
So that’s about it for my inspiration board this year. I am planning on adding to it eventually with some fashion pictures and some other materials. But for now, this is what inspires me!
Have you made an inspiration board or journal before and did you find it inspiring?
